Our home is hurting. The Earth is suffering, and everyone who inhabits it is too. It’s time to stop taking advantage of our home and start working with it. This world is already full with an abundance of resources and material that is waiting to be upcycled. Oddthenticity believes in taking what materials we already have and giving them new life. Recycling is the future, and the clothing industry has a responsibility to do what's best for the Earth, its people, and its home.
Odd and Authentic
When creating Oddthenticity, the goal was to create clothes that not only felt good to wear but also felt authentic to you. Clothes are stories. They are a collection of time and hard labour. Oddthenticity believes that along with knowing where your clothes came from and the story of how they found their way to you, clothes should always feel authentic to you. No one should feel the need to conform to what society deems safe. Oddthenticty was created to help further a world that takes pride in our differences and basks in our oddness. An Oddthenticty piece of clothing is meant to make you feel like your most odd authentic self (hence the brand's name).
Creating
All of our pieces are currently constructed in Vancouver, B.C., by the creator of Oddthenticity, me, Sydney Wong. With a sewing machine, a serger, and lots of patience, each piece is crafted with immense care and thoughtfulness. The love of art has been nurtured and passed on through my family for decades. My love for sewing and creating was specifically given to me by my mom and grandma. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand that materials can live multiple lives and that creation is an ever-flowing cycle. You can be sure that each piece of clothing is truly made from a place of love and sincerity.
